• Physical and emotional abuse of a romantic partner

• Antisemitic slurs, with and without intent to harm

• Physical abuse of a child

• Suicidal ideation

• Central character death

• State-sanctioned execution (hanging)

• One disablist slur (as a place name from Dickens, not directed at a character)

• A fair bit of swearing

• A lot of property crime

This book does not contain:

• Rape or sexual violence

• Animal death (there is a dog and a cat, and both are fine)
